Personal Statement

I have been playing softball for almost ten years, and while for some people ten years is not that much time, it feels like a lifetime to a teenager. My best memories growing up were in the batting cage with my dad, practicing and constantly striving to improve my game. As long as I can remember almost every thought that runs through my mind has been about softball, and I can honestly say that there is nothing that I care about more, aside from my friends and my family. The passion I have always had for softball continues to boggle my mind. As I move forward in my softball career, I will carry that passion into other important aspects of my life. Said passion, and my love for the game, fuels the grit and determination that I pride myself on having every time I step onto the field. Dedication to a sport is arguably one of the most important traits to have, and while I am completely biased towards myself, I like to think that I have that dedication.

Parents, coaches, and even other players have always complimented me, asking how I stay motivated while experiencing setbacks. Though many thoughts run through my mind, there is only one answer that has ever truly stuck with me. Softball has given me some of the best, worst and the most exhilarating moments of my life, and I would not trade those moments for the world. While there are other athletes who may have better stats, my heart and commitment sticks out more than my batting average. Playing softball in college has been a lifelong dream for me, and I want it more than I can describe in words. However, no matter where I play in college, I know that I will be happy, because I will be playing the game that I love.
